Manifesto

A conviction is more than just an opinion.

A conviction is a strong opinion. A commited stance. An inner belief that has carried us forward and guided our choices and actions for 4 generations, since 1920, towards a vision of Champagne as the noblest of Wines, to the point of establishing its name.

Since then, over a hundred vintages have passed and new convictions have taken root.

The conviction that a good wine starts with a good grape, and that there can be no good grape without good soil.
The conviction that great wines can only be made by hand, and that this requires rigour, exacting standards, know-how and patience, which explains our limited production.
The conviction that, even with the best Champagne plots, perfection cannot be achieved without daring to innovate.
The conviction that the quest for excellence and craftsmanship has value.
The conviction that our great wines don’t have to wait for special occasions. The right moment is above all the right circumstances: the right place, the right company, the right frame of mind.
Under these conditions, every moment can be a celebration.

LENOBLE champagnes are a blend of convictions that has already won over a host of connoisseurs and epicureans.

Yesterday’s convictions inspire today’s and fuel tomorrow’s. To always honour conviction number 1: Champagne is the noblest of the Grands Vins.

CHAMPAGNE LENOBLE,
A BLEND OF CONVICTIONS.

Armand Raphaël Graser, son of a wine merchant of Alsatian origin, founded the Maison de Damery while continuing his trading activities. Driven by a deep respect for the greatness of Champagne wines, he chose to name his company A.R. LENOBLE, in tribute to the nobility of this exceptional beverage. Acknowledged and appreciated by the winemakers, whom he supported financially throughout his life, Graser learned from them, developing a deep passion for his craft and a know-how that has never ceased to improve.

Joseph Graser, known as Jo, succeeds his father at the head of the House. A graduate of the prestigious École des Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC) and elected mayor of Damery, he devoted all his energy to the development of LENOBLE. Thanks to his resolutely outward-looking vision and his commitment to social life, he helped to enhance the company's reputation, giving it a new aura while perpetuating the family heritage with a modern edge.

Jean-Marie Malassagne, Jo's nephew and the founder's grandson, inherits the House of LENOBLE. Born into a family deeply rooted in the vineyards, he had left his native land to pursue a career as a physician, founding a renowned clinic in Reims. Alongside Colette, his wife, the daughter of a winegrower and herself a doctor, they chose to devote themselves passionately to the destiny of House LENOBLE, despite the demands of their noble profession.

At just 28 years of age, Anne Malassagne in turn embraced the destiny of the family business. Three years later, her brother Antoine, a biochemist by trade, joined her as cellar master. The fourth generation of the House of LENOBLE thus embarked on the path of moving upmarket and daring innovation, driven by the firm conviction that there is a legitimate place for exceptional artisanal Champagne alongside the great houses.

In 2023, a century after its creation, House LENOBLE was handed over to the Frère-Gallienne family, who share the same entrepreneurial spirit and vision of the long term.

"Just like the founders of House LENOBLE, we ourselves are a family very attached to the values of entrepreneurship and transmission.
I want to continue their work by creating great Champagne wines, while preserving the independence and family dimension of the House.

Ségolène Frère-Gallienne

VINEYARDS

A GOOD WINE STARTS WITH GOOD GRAPES, AND THERE ARE NO GOOD GRAPES WITHOUT GOOD SOIL.

Although its vineyards are historically rooted in the upper Marne Valley, a terroir renowned for the excellence of its Pinots Meuniers, over the years the House has gradually expanded into exceptional lands. It has established a foothold in the prestigious terroirs of the Côte des Blancs, where Chardonnays of unequalled finesse flourish, as well as in the Montagne de Reims, the birthplace of the noblest Pinots Noirs.
Of the 319 villages in the Champagne region, Chouilly is one of the 17 classified as Grand Cru, and Bisseuil is one of the 44 classified as Premier Cru. Both are emblematic terroirs for the House. These exceptional terroirs embody the very essence of the winemaking excellence that distinguishes LENOBLE champagnes.

The faces of excellence

The custodians of our strong, innovative approach.

ségolène frère-Gallienne

Ségolène Frère Gallienne, heir to the passion for great wines passed on by her father, Albert Frère, an eminent Belgian baron and leading figure in the industry, was immediately seduced by this pearl of Champagne. Under her impetus, LENOBLE joined the very select circle of the prestigious Château Cheval Blanc, of which it has been co-owner for over thirty years, continuing its uninterrupted quest for excellence.
